Danny was born in Vancouver, BC...although he only lived there for 3 months before migrating south to California. Some have speculated that Canada is where his hockey roots lie. More likely though, Danny caught the hockey bug somewhere between the San Francisco Cow Palace and the San Jose Arena while watching the San Jose Sharks play as a kid.
Growing up in the suburbs of San Jose, CA, Danny did what every sprouting youth did at his age-he played soccer. From the age of 3 till 15, Danny kept his feet moving, playing for competitive and traveling teams. He likes to say that he reached his peak as an athlete somewhere around 11 or 12.
While Danny always enjoyed hockey, there never seemed to be an opportunity to try it out, although he claims to have been the best roller hockey player in the neighborhood when all the kids got together in the parking lot behind the school (…sounds awfully legit, huh?) Anyway, one day Danny decided that the best way to get started playing ice hockey was to purchase a pair of skates…so he did. And there the skates sat…for years and years, prompting a fellow hockey player to recently ask, “Hey Danny, those look like new skates, where’d you get them?” Oh….if they only knew…
It wasn’t until his former roommate decided to leave him with a hockey stick that things actually started to move. Danny spent the summer of 2006 in NYC and decided to try the Thursday Night Ice Clinic. After a bit of encouragement from the other players, he decided to join up with the NYCGHA for the Fall League. Danny is ecstatic to be playing his first season with the Rockets.
Danny is currently a Senior at Fordham University at the Lincoln Center Campus. He is President of Student Government at Fordham and plays for their club soccer team while also managing to find time to play in another competitive adult soccer league. This, of course, means he has little time for much else…like homework.
