Boston Tournament 2002 Jan 13-15, 2001

The Lions played two games, sporting the lovely and newly "patched" Lions jerseys. New York won the first game, against the Boston Lobsters, 8-3, but lost the second game, against the Boston Lasers, 4-2. As expected, "The Flying Cronins" were a wonderful spectacle on ice. Bobby Cronin, his brother Sean and sister Kerrie played as linemates and made some really cool plays.

One of the more entertaining moments on the bench was when Kerrie's little boy, who was running the gate, exclaimed, "My mommy just scored a goal!! Wooohooooo!!" You just don't hear that too often during hockey games :)

The Ugly Americans played the Boston "Speds on Ice" and lost 4-2. Our two goals were scored by Justin Foa and Kelly Owen. In all three games, "Cousin Matt" played exceptionally well in goal, having not played in over 2 1/2 years. (Note: he didn't have a warm-up for any of the games, as the team always arrived just in time. Boston is a tricky city to navigate.)

While in Boston, a handful of us attended the Rangers-Bruins game. (Those Rangers just can't suck enough!!). We got tickets from scalpers, but they weren't too expensive. It was surprising to see so many Rangers fans at the game. There were lots of blue and white jerseys the crowd. We were lucky enough to be one row below a man dressed as a cow, udder and all, screaming for one of the Bruins players. And I though New Yorkers were screwed up.

We left Boston Monday morning in a snowstorm! The snow turned to rain once we hit Hartford. Wasn't so bad. Thanks again to everyone who attended!
