Jacob began playing his senior year of college. He didn't have a real hockey bag so he had to haul his dad's old gear to the rink in a beige man-bag. In a stunning twist of fate, Jacob's first goal, for which he himself was in no way responsible, was nonetheless witnessed from the stands by New York Ranger and Olympic silver medalist Mike Richter. (Mr. Richter's sole advice for the sorely outgunned intramural team: "Stand in front of the net!") After leaving college, Jacob moved to New York and six months later enrolled in the New York City Gay Hockey Association, where he has remained to this day. Jacob shoots left, fights never, and skates -- backward, even! -- on CCM Vector 05's, size 8. Jacob's favourite position is Center. Jacob believes his selective adoption of Canadian spellings lends him an air of hockey respectability that is sufficient to make up for his scanty knowledge of the NHL. When asked what he most desires out of life, Jacob mumbled that he was not sure but that "the ability to pass and shoot accurately" would rank somewhere near the top of the list. Last we checked, Jacob is still hard at work on this goal.
