Paul has always been an Islander fan since their glory days, but never actually played. In January 2008, at 52, he decided it was time to get off the bench and became a regular at Sky Rink adult skating sessions, hockey prep, NYCGHA hockey instruction and a couple scrimmages. He joined the NYCGHA division 8 Hotshots team in Fall '08. He even surprised himself by scoring 4 goals and 3 assists in his first season. "It's been a challenging, fun and supportive experience, and the Chelsea Challenge was a blast!"
