Hockey and skating have always been a part of Alex's life having been born to a goaltender father who played Division I at Colgate and pro in Europe, a brother who played Division I at Ohio State and minor league pro in the U.S., and a competitive figure skating sister who trained in Lake Placid and became Illinois' first female ice hockey referee. Alex's parents also ran a not-for-profit community ice rink and hockey program for the duration of his childhood in the Chicago suburbs, where he grew up. Alex was literally raised in an ice rink.
But less serious than his kin, Alex stopped playing when he went to college at G.W. in D.C. That is until 2011 when he put on his gear again for the first time in 16 years to join the Spiders in the NYCGHA Spring 2011 season. While the locker room and sleepovers were his favorite parts of the game back then, now the ice time is a bigger draw.
Alex is a New Yorker by transplant, but loves his city and can't imagine leaving. He currently works in public affairs for one of the city's largest non profits, and loves hitting the streets of NYC on the weekends, and travelling when he can get away. He loves a good party and is no stranger to a drink or two, so if you see him around, holler "haaaaaaaay!"
